Caylee Anthony

Caylee Anthony Day by Day Since the Begining of The End

Additional items recovered at crime scene

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) — Monday morning, Orange County Sheriff’s spokesperson Carlos Padilla confirmed that additional items were recovered at the crime site where the remains of a child were found on Thursday.

He would not say whether those items were additional bones or clothing, noting that the sheriff’s office wanted to keep the integrity of the case at hand.

At least five FBI agents and a slew of investigators from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office continue to comb through a heavily wooded area less than one mile away from the home of missing toddler, Caylee Anthony. The Sheriff’s Office says they will expand the area as much as necessary and have removed several bushes and trees from the site.

There is still no confirmation on whether the bones found in the plastic bag are those of Caylee’s. Padilla said the FBI and the Sheriff’s Office are attempting to expedite those results as quickly as possible. They confirmed that the medical examiner’s office has stayed in close touch with the FBI lab in Virginia, but would not elaborate on what other items other than the remains are being examined.

“Truly the victim here, aside from the Anthony’s, is Caylee Marie Anthony,” Padilla said. “Assuming that that is her, we shouldn’t lose focus that we should do whatever we can for her memory,” he added.

Also on Monday, Tim Miller, the leader of Texas Equusearch, spoke with FOX 35’s Mike Dunston about the case. Tim Miller says he is angry with Casey Anthony. “When we walked into the Anthony’s house the first time, Casey could have taken me for a two minute walk and it would have been over,” he said.

He said investigators at the crime site got emotional after the find. “We hugged and wiped tears out of our eyes and said ‘My God, it’s finally over, it’s finally over.”

Investigators allowed Miller close to the area where the child’s remains were located, but they said he, as well as Casey Anthony’s defense team, were not given access to the actual site.

I have to wonder… If the Anthony’s believe that Casey is innocent, and had nothing to do with Caylee’s apparent death – why are they seeking immunity from prosecution for their possible “tampering with evidence” and the other charges against them? It would seem to me that if Casey is innocent, they would have nothing to worry about, because anything they did/did not do – would not rise to criminal charges…..

  2. Justice4all71 says:

I feel bad for Tim Miller… that poor man! I know he wanted to find her, then to know she was so close…..

  3. youngmom says:

We need to pray that there is undisputed evidence of Casey’s direct connection to this crime…such as her fingerprints on the duct tape. If they don’t, then her parents will never ever see the light. And I can somewhat understand that.
Please let there be something that is in direct connection with Casey…that is all I pray for now!

  4. justice4all71 says:

youngmom – you and all of us on this site…… I think the duct tape is going to be the best evidence against her!! You know that stuff – EVERYTHING sticks to it!! A fingerprint would be GREAT, but I’ll take anything that makes a solid connect to Casey! Anything at all!

  5. maria says:

I hope there ia a connection to Casey too ,that gloves were not used, or she got someone else to do it for her. I am praying too for Caylee.

Ya’ll need to go over to the Crime Scene Investigators Return to the Scene thread and read DQ’s info she uncovered about the Sawgrass Apts.. Interesting info. Justice, I would love a new thread on this info DQ has. Read the last dozen comments.

  7. maria says:

2pm the Judge is going to see motions for defense today

  8. Mary says:

I honestly think all Baez’s empty motions are exactly that – going through the motions. He is just doing busy work right now because it is a waiting game for him too. He doesn’t have enough to work with in backing up or proving Casey’s story/innocence, so all he can do is pray for a small sliver of doubt as to the forensic testing on the remains.

Also, Baez’s motion to ask for a new trial location is futile. There is no jury in the United States that isn’t tainted not because of the media attention, but because the average person has common sense and knows this is becoming a stronger case as time goes on…..

  9. Mary says:

Krisam – I agree that a new thread would be interesting regarding the information that was posted by DQ. I would like to know where the information originated though…..

  10. Charlie says:

This is just a guess…I think the “cloth” found near the skull was a sheet. If the investigators took a “pillow” from the Anthony home then it was probably a match to the sheet. Children usually have disney characters type sheets, so if Cindy left everything like it was when Caylee lived their, I wonder if the officers recognized the sheet set. This would explain why the Anthony’s need immunity. Cindy and george would notice the sheet was missing. Casey does not strike me as someone that would re-make the bed with a new sheet.

  11. mia says:

charlie – it didn’t look like there was a pillowcase on that pillow they took – maybe the case was in the bag w/caylee.

  12. Shae says:

Now I have heard that the Anthonys now believe that Caylee is really dead.

  13. Zenga says:

Mary: Great post. My thoughts exactly. Thanks!

  14. Tower says:

Does anyone know if there is another site that has copies of the motions other than myfoxorlando.com ?? I can hardly ever read the documents on their site because I can’t enlarge them enough for me to read….getting older i guess.

  15. MZO says:

this is probably Caylee’s bones [course will be confirmed as early as Thrusday, possibly later too] and the need for immunity is I think George and Cindy are tired, just tied of living in denial and they don’t want to get in trouble because they have told some lies here and there and they can get in trouble for that. That is the need for immunity

  16. Elaine says:

I hesitate to blame the media for all the publicity. Yes, they were a great presence and they reported everything they came across. However, Florida’s Sunshine Law allows that all evidence become public record, and the Anthonys were so anxious to appear on camera, that the media simply accommodated them. If the jury pool has been tainted, it has been from the Anthonys and Casey’s lawyer, Bozo Baez.

  17. mia says:

uh wel yeah MZO – everyone that commits a crime, steals, burglary, etc.. they all will pretty much lie and do what they need to cover up. And they would ALL like immunity at the last minute when they realize they are caught.

The Anthonys should not be exempt from the law. Period.

  18. Elaine says:

I think FBI is having the remains double- or triple-checked before releasing information on identity. Also, someone else mentioned that there may be a possibility that another body may have been in the area? Who knows? There are other missing persons, for sure.

  19. mia says:

Elaine – i also read somewhere that it could be the bones of small animals, birds, etc. mixed in and which is why it could take longer to process all that they’ve found.

  20. Zenga says:

“Defense experts will be looking for spoilation of evidence” – that’s why Baez filed the emergency motion for today.

Just on CourtTV (truTV). Now covering the case – will also broadcast the hearing live.

  21. yanina says:

What about the clothes that caylee was wearing that day, where they in the bag also????

  22. mia says:

“spoilation” now there’s a ten dollar word :)

  23. sway says:

Hi Y’all…Baez is back on court today again….
Copies of the motions he is filing found here…

    http://www.wftv.com/news/18288396/detail.html

Wonder if Judge Strickland is tired of these emergency hearings from Baez yet ???

  24. Zenga says:

“spoilation” – yes – that is the word the lawer said on CourtTV – apparently it’s real legal lingo.

  25. J says:

Yanina, with Casey making the comment that LE hadn’t even found precious little Caylee’s clothes yet, I would suspect there were no clothes in the bag.

I still firmly believe many are giving Casey way too much credit here. She may be a mastermind manipulator, but she definitely is not smart enough to plan the perfect murder.

She has slipped up and slipped up major with her disposal of this precious little baby (thank God!) Grandma and Grandpa may have finally come to this realization. Doesn’t mean they still won’t try to get Casey out of this mess, but it’s a start.

As far as goofy Baez goes with his motions, etc., he’s an attorney. He’s supposed to do these filings.

  26. mia says:

sway – if we’re tired of it already i can surely imagine the judge is. Should be interesting.

  27. Elaine says:

I’m sure it is part of the process. Whenever there is new evidence there can be emergency hearings. I’ve seen that happen in child custody cases even.

Ok- did the main Home Page change?? I found this thread, but the main page says it “no longer exists” –help

  31. Lila ~ says:

Another thought on the pillow- I would imagine it’s also a good possible source for DNA. Pillow cases can be changed, but saliva or tears may have seeped through.

Yes, I hope the duct tape provides definative proof, but even if it doesn’t ,the jury is going to hear a stream of scientific and circumstantial evidence that is going to be impossible to explain away .

Of course there will be that one hair, fiber or fingerprint that they can’t match to anyone. There is in every case- but it will be an irrelevant needle in a haystack of damning evidence against Casey.

The Defense’s only hope is some gaffe on the part of police, forensics or prosecution- and they know it.
Let the fingerpointing and whining begin!…Oh, it has already? What a shocker.

  32. Reese says:

On one case on CSI very early on there was a case about a baby that had died accidentally at the hands of her 3 year old brother and the parents staged a kidnapping to make it look like someone was holding the baby for ransom. (the family was rich) they lived near a golf course, CSI fans probably know which one i am talking about. But anyways the mother put the baby out on the golf course and covered it up with a blanket. And Grissom said that when they see victims covered up with something like a blanket or sheet like the baby was that it shows that someone close to them did it because it shows they were taking care of them “covering them up because they want to keep them warm”. Im wondering if that’s how they know it’s Caylee because for one she is covered up in a blanket from the Anthony house and that only someone that loved her would do that? (that’s where i think the defense could still possibly say it WAS an accident and try to get sympathy that way). Just an observation i had. So that’s how investigators know it’s not a kidnapping etc???? what does everyone else think?

  33. DR..Seuss says:

I think casey killed her daughter alive. She couldn’t make it seem like a accident. So Casey what is up next? This doesn’t suprise anyone you slipped up many to many…

  34. Teresa Bishop says:

Caylee was found were Cindy and George Anthony used to walk their dogs. I am sure that Casey knew the area well…that’s one reason why I believe Caylee was murdered at home and the body was moved. And lets not forget the “I know she is close, and safe” statement Casey has made in the past. Yes, the duct tape will hopefully provide prints that cements the fact that she commited this unthinkable act. Thank God its over for the Anthony’s…Give them the privacy they deserve, it’s not their fault their daughter turned out to be an animal. It’s just beginning for Casey, as her life as she used to know it is over also.
