Anthony Defense Team Leaves Discs Full Of Tips

1-abaezctr5Although Casey Anthony’s family and her lawyers claim her missing daughter Caylee is alive, information that could help find her has been abandoned at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office for an entire month.

Anthony’s attorney, Jose Baez, went to court demanding access to those tips but he hasn’t examined them yet. Casey Anthony is charged with murder in connection with the child’s death although her body has not been found.

On November 5, 2008, Baez said, “We all believe she’s alive and if these tips, if there’s one credible tip in that 5,000, it’s worth us going through them.”

He’s received repeated reminders that the tips, which took 50 hours and $980 to compile, were ready for him to pick up.

Baez filed a court motion asking for “any police investigation reports or any other similar documentation… Which involves the investigation of tips, leads and follow-ups… On sightings of Caylee.” Baez’s spokesman says the Sheriff’s Office has misled them in the past, implying the abandoned discs don’t contain tips of Caylee sightings. He said that even though the defense hasn’t looked at them yet. He also said that Baez “could maybe already know what’s on those discs.”

The Sheriff’s Office offered to let the defense team look at all the tips it wants after it’s paid for the work that’s already been done. So far, Baez has not done that.

Baez is scheduled back in court Thursday for a pre-trial hearing, on Casey Anthony’s murder charges.

ATTORNEY WITHDRAWLS FROM CASEY ANTHONY CASE

Another attorney withdraws from the Caylee Anthony case! This time it’s a member of Casey Anthony’s defense team. Terence Lenamon was brought on by Jose Baez to assist in the death penalty portion of the tot mom’s trial, expected to begin January 5. On Friday the State Attorney’s Office announced that they will no longer be seeking the death penalty against Casey Anthony, so Lenamon assistance in the case is no longer needed.

Caylee’s Grandparents Hope Subpoena Will Aid In Search

ORLANDO, Fla. — The attorney for Casey Anthony, who remains jailed on murder charges in the disappearance of her 3-year-old daughter, Caylee, is seeking a subpoena to obtain surveillance video from area businesses involved in possible Caylee sightings. Jose Baez, the attorney representing Casey Anthony is scheduled to appear in court on Monday. Casey Anthony’s parents, George and Cindy Anthony, said they need the subpoena to help in their search for their missing granddaughter.can’t do it as private citizens. It has to be law enforcement,” said Cindy Anthony, referring to following up on tips in the case.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has said that evidence shows Caylee is dead.Cindy Anthony also said she wished that jail visitation videos released last week would have been seen by the public earlier.

“I said from the very beginning, if they would have shown those tapes people would have seen that she does have emotions,” Cindy Anthony said. “She’s not a cold, calloused person like everybody wants to paint her out to be. She’s a desperate, loving mother.”

Anthonys say no more vigils until next year

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Anthonys say there won’t be anymore Caylee vigils for the rest of the year. Cindy and George Anthony have been holding vigils at Eastside Baptist Church on Sundays, but they say with the holidays and some obligations that the church has to fill, they’re stopping the vigils until next year.

The Anthonys will also be flying to California for a Larry King Live interview Wednesday night. They say while in California they will follow up on tips about Caylee sightings.

Investigators have said the little girl is dead and her mother, Casey, killed her.

Anthonys On State’s Decision Against Death

1-afoxcindyOn Sunday evening, the grandmother of missing Orlando toddler Caylee Marie Anthony spoke with FOX 35 about the State of Florida’s decision not seek the death penalty in the first degree murder case against her daughter, Casey Anthony.

“I don’t think they have much of a case at all,” said Cindy following a candlelight vigil for Caylee at the Eastside Baptist Church in Orlando. “I don’t think they have a death penalty case at all, so I wasn’t surprised.”

She added that the whole notion of raising a death penalty case against her daughter was ridiculous.  “I think we should be out there looking for Caylee and not focused on a few lies Casey told to the Sheriff’s Office. The evidence will speak for itself.”

The Orange County State Attorney’s Office said in a news release late Friday that “it is not in the best interest of the people of the state of Florida” to pursue the death penalty against 22-year-old Casey Anthony.

The statement by assistant prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick gave no further information on the decision. E-mails to a court spokesman were not immediately returned.

Anthony has pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder, child abuse, aggravated manslaughter and four counts of lying to investigators about the disappearance of her daughter. She faces life in prison if convicted.

Caylee Anthony was last seen in June but her mother did not report her missing until July. The child’s grandmother first called authorities in July to say she hadn’t seen Caylee for a month and her daughter’s car smelled like death.

The toddler has not been found.
