Casey Anthony’s attorney will hold press conference today
Todd Black said defense attorney Jose Baez will hold a press conference at his Kissimmee office at 2 p.m. today. The subject of the press conference was not announced.
George Anthony remains hopeful granddaughter is alive
Anthony was greeted by reporters as he left his house to tow a giant billboard of his missing granddaughter around Central Florida. Hours earlier while giving an interview on a live national news show, a spokesman for his daughter Casey’s legal team said the girl was indeed dead.
“It’s not a belief that I have in my brain,” Anthony said, when asked about the spokesman’s comments. “I don’t believe 99 percent of stuff that is out there.”
He refuses to give up hope that his granddaughter is alive somewhere.
“What would you do if this ever happened to you, to your family?” he asked. “Would you ever give up? No. Would you ever stop? No.”
Comment was edited, defense attorney’s spokesman said
“I said that in response to a former law-enforcement officer’s joke about Caylee,” Black said. “I have made the same comment to others in the last three weeks.”
Casey Anthony’s defense attorney, Jose Baez, has not returned calls to the Orlando Sentinel.
Larry Garrison, who represents Caylee Marie’s grandparents, George and Cindy Anthony, said Black’s statement was “an inappropriate uninformed comment. We are looking for Caylee alive and setting up a new tip line this week.”
Attorney Jose Baez’s spokesman, Todd Black, was live on a phone interview on CNN Wednesday night when he said, “It’s very difficult. This is a serious case involving not just the loss of the life of this little girl, but the loss of whatever is going to happen with Casey Anthony.”

Todd Black is saying his comment was made in response to a law enforcement officer’s JOKE about Caylee? Somehow I doubt there was any joke about Caylee.
LISTEN EVERYONE PLEASE! First of all that interview of Todd Black was aired live on Tuesday evening as my husband and I watched it LIVE. It was exactly what was said. So another BS story from defense team. I actually asked people here yesterday if anyone else saw it!!!!

Perhaps this has been covered before, but does anyone have any info on Caylee’s DNA. Casey’s former boyfriend Jesse took a DNA test to determine if he was the father. So I am assuming that the lab that did the tesing has her DNA on file. Has any of the other known possible “daddy” candidates been tested since this LE got involved? Has LE requested that info to match up against anything they found in the truck of the car?
Be silent and thought a fool or open mouth and remove all doubt……..AAN……you’re right they’re BOOBS!

I don’t think who the daddy is is of much interest at this point to LE. The only reason Jesse Grund gave dna was because Cindy was trying to say he took Caylee. He had to clear himself of suspicion and motive.

I don’t think there can be a mistrial yet cuz there is not a trial yet. Maybe the DA can use it at a future trial.
N.C. Having the DNA would assist in ID’ing a body or bones. And, would it not be important to remove any doubt that Casey was taken by her “father”?
Mistrial??…..I don’t know the law and it seems that the attorneys can’t even agree on certain things. I’ve seen a couple different places that this slip of the tongue could help with an appeal. Also that piping sound into the media room during the GJ could help with an appeal.

This slip of the tongue may well have some consequences. If the defense dream nightmare team can not get their act straight, then
suspected tot killer Casey Anthony has some great material for appeal after she is found guilty,
and there is no doubt in my mind, that guilty is going to be the verdict. If your IQ is bigger than Leonard Padilla’s hat size, how could you possibly disagree?

I saw it live also…..WESH.com is reporting they can’t show news conference live but will post it later. I hope CNN follows up on this and brings in experts to show that the comment was not edited (if that being the case) and then sues the firm for slander. And i saw a whole panel of lawyers discussing how this comment could be readdressed later…..and there was definitely concern regarding possible mistrial….all the lawyes seemed to think it could be brought up….this was on CNN, as well

I’d have to do a little research on what could determine a cause for a mistrial. The trial hasn’t even started yet.
If Cindy has tips then why isn’t she engaging the media in the search for Caylee…or Kealy as NG calls her.
I guess she hates the media as much as she hates LE, except the Today Show.

There is too much feather ruffling by Baez or any other defense attorney when talking about a “possible mistrial” . . . good grief. We live in the U.S. – we have freedom of speech. Mr. Black had a Freudian slip – so what? One statement (even a bold one at that) will not cause a “mistrial” . . . Trial hasn’t yet started – the Judge has not ordered a “gag” order on anyone.
It takes a whole lotta stuff for a mistrial . . . whole lotta dancin’ . . . Jacknut Jiggle or two ain’t gonna get ‘em a mistrial.

Mistrial? There is not a trial going on.
Let’s look at this logically: if this could cause a mistrial, then all any lawyer or spokesperson has to do is to publicly say something that incriminates their client. “The place that Casey told me she put the body, was NOT near the airport.” or “Casey has told Mr. Baez that she killed Caylee accidentally, not on purpose.”
Removal of lawyer? Maybe. I would suggest removing this (non-) spokesman immediately.
That photo has been researched to death on several forums, but for the life of me I can’t recall for sure what the verdict was. I BELIEVE it is a cousin of Lee and Casey’s. Hence, the family resemblance.

As for Mr. Black ..What ever you think you heard was not what was really said… Caylee is alive she has only been misplaced it is a temporary situation and when Casey represents herself she will probably straighten it all out. Until then Mr. Black will be conducting our press coverage and searchs in Texas , Mexico and PR ….
He insisted it was taken out of context. It was referring to the case itself which is about the death of a child…
He repeated “must be a slow news day,” “mis-reported”, “mis-information”
He would have sounded better if he chalked it up to a freudian slip and that Todd Black left out the word, “possible” before death.
Oh, and a reporter did ask about the live sightings of Caylee leads. He has them and he cannot disclose them because that will jeaopardize the investigation.

Yeah, Chloe, I saw it. I watch CNN HN from 4-6pm every day. I gave the heads up to yesterday’s show at 5 when they would talk about the Black gaff. Nothing was taken out of context. And there was no joking about the case by Mike Brookes, as Black claims. I think he’s just pissed because Gallagos gave him a tongue lashing for lecturing him on lying about the case.

I tend to think JP Chat and Caylee look more alike. I’ve asked before but I don’t think we know, did JP Chat give a dna sample? And tho the paternity of Caylee is not necessarily an issue at this time, it might be, if the hair sample can then be determined an exact match genetically with both of the parents? Not just the mitochondrial (sp?) dna? But also, I heard that to do that, they need a hair with the full root from Caylee’s head. Now, I would think her hairbrush could’ve provided that. There must be a lot more we just are not privvy to. Look at the JP’s pic under Whos Who on this site, much better pic to compare. The beard is deceiving and actually makes him resemble Lee more.
Oh and Logical, thanks for your insight about the news station. That reinforces Baez’ statement about ch9, well, phooey! What happened with Mr. Black? How do they do damage control with this? Someone commented it could make for a mistrial? How?? Pls explain any of our legal people???
P.S. new pic–if that male holding Caylee could be her father, is there face recognition software that could match up his features (it’s a front facial pic) with a miitary id in the govt system?? Not sure if possible, but I would bet they can do it. Or with drivers’ license photos??? Oh yeah, let’s find out who this guy is.
