State Attorney Lawson Lamar arrives Monday at the courthouse to testify before a grand jury.
Jose Baez’s public relations firm issued a press release Tuesday accusing State Attorney Lawson Lamar of using the case against Casey to win voters.
In Tuesday’s statement, Todd Black from Press Corps Media challenged the timing of Tuesday’s grand jury hearing stating: “There’s no time limit on bringing murder charges against any suspected offender. But, there is a limit on how much time Lawson Lamar has to impress voters.

/ Once the arrest is made, a judge reads the charges from the indictment.
/ You likely won’t see transcripts of the testimony until they are made public as part of the discovery process, similar to other evidence and transcripts that have been made public in this case

Did y’all here Cindy yesterday in that interview, she said everybody talks about what she is doing in his office for six hours (I think she was quoting one of us), and that it was two hours travel time, half an hour there and half an hour back, so that only left her 4 hours at his office, and that she was directing him in the direction to go regarding her case. I bet he is glad he can’t represent her. But can she not add? That whole family is mathematically challenged. Half hour there and half hour back is only an hour.

anothermom – I was in fact a stenographer for years in the court system. I now still transcribe criminal, civil, and medical documentation on the side still to this day. A good transcriber, from what I told, is extremely hard to find. I turn down a lot of work – my “day” job is training consultant.
I do type 130+ wpm . . . and sometimes correctly! Ha!

Mia – I still hold my State license, so I can still transcribe for the courts. You might want to look into getting your license – it is the hardest test I have ever taken in my life . . . but court transcripts are extremely long, a bit hairy at times due to all the time it sucks out of you and then the deadlines . . . but the pay is nice.

Did anyone else pick up on this topic in Lee’s interview? He was talking about when he was alone with Casey and got the news about not seeing Caylee for 31 days. And then said something along the lines of “real crying,” or she lifted her head up and had actual tears” or something like that. As if fake crying by Casey would not be anything out of the ordinary. Of course, then Cindy came in and the two of them went off on an argument about old stuff rather than this new rather important issue of a missing toddler.

He will NOT put on a defense – one simply does NOT exist. Baez will use the ol’ smoke-n-mirrors routine to poke holes in the P.A.’s case throughout the trial.

Here is some law advice for Baez: You too need to remain silent. It is the Defense’s absolute right to remain silent. And I truly believe it is in YOUR best interest to do so. Save it all for the actual trial. Keep a low profile. Let the P.A. put on their case – and you can then defend your client in COURT as you so whine about is what you want to do. Save all your breath – you are going to need it.

From what I saw in the replay on CNN, her tears did not come when Baez said she is a mother who has a missing daughter. Her tears came after Baez said Casey is a daughter! That’s when the tears came flowing out of her eyes inbetween moving her hair from her face. Casey is still only thinking of herself and not her own daughter.

Re: Baez being “allowed” to try the potential (capital) murder case – Casey can have anyone she wants to represent her, including Baez, even including her own little self.
The death penalty defense bar does not give its “stamp of approval” to Baez to try a capital murder case, as they were quoted as saying in the press yesterday. They have a set of standards they apply, and Baez doesn’t meet them. But those standards are not laws, regulations, or binding on anybody for anything that I know of. Unless FL has some special law about it.
So Casey doesn’t have to switch lawyers at all. If she ends up facing capital murder charges, and if she is smart, she will want somebody more experienced to take the lead. ‘All the talk now is the defense bar trying to prevent a later claim for ineffective assistance of counsel based on having a sorry-ass attorney at trial.
But ultimately, Casey is the defendant, and she will choose her attorney. Unless she says she can’t afford an attorney and requests a public defender, in which case they would appoint somebody, and in part based on the recommendations of the capital defense bar.

The Orange County judge has not decided whether he will allow her to visit key points of interest in the case.
The judge also hasn’t ruled on whether the locations she visits should be made public or if the prosecution should be forced to stop testing evidence.

A court deputy tells me the last witness to testify before the grand jury is now on the stand. He is Orange County detective Yuri Melich who has been on the case since Caylee Anthony was reported missing three months ago this week.
We’ve counted around a half dozen witnesses presented by the state, they include: George Anthony, Orange County’s cadaver dog handler, and an FBI agent also closely involved with the case, Nick Savage.
Once the testimony is complete and all the evidence presented, the grand jury of ten women and nine men will deliberate. Once they have reached a decision, the media will be invited in to the courtroom to hear from State Attorney Lawson Lamar whether the grand jury has decided on a “true bill” or “no true bill” decision; To indict or not to indict. If Casey is in custody, her name will be revealed at that time; if not, we’ll hear the charges.

Somebody probably already answered your question Sway but I heard that Baez is not qualified as a murder defense attorney. He is not qualified to represent Casey in a murder trial
However, the court will say that he is not qualified, but if Casey requests him just the same, he can represent her. It is the courts obligation to let the accused know that the lawyer is not qualified.
the judge is probably waiting to hear if an indidment is coming from the GJ because then he wont have to rule.and let her go search shell be in jail and not getting out!
Sway – there are many differing opinions on Baez’ qualifications. Ultimately, Casey gets to choose, regardless what anybody says about his qualifications.
anothermom- I read this morning that Baez waived appearance and entered not guilty pleas on all charges. That just means they did it on paper, instead of in person, which they are allowed to do & it’s pretty common. Especially on a busy day like today!
Regarding the interview posted here. Cannot beleive Bozo would make reference to our friends, sons and daughter serving in Iraq, there is nothing to compare. What an ASS. I have friends and family serving. They would throw the two is them onto a bomb to save this country.

NC – I think the criticism has been that he’s not qualified to do a CAPITAL murder trial. (death penalty) They are considered a specialization of murder defense & the defense bar has said that he doesn’t have the prior experience to take a capital murder case on as lead. I would think he has probably done many non-capital murder cases.

The testimony in front of the grand jury apparently is over. Jurors just took a break and now will deliberate. The media were instructed on what to expect once the room is opened for the reading. It is not known how long the jurors could take. Once the media is let is, there will be video available from a pool camera, which our plans would be to stream on WESH.com.

Casey’s personality disorder means the tears she will shed are because some type of pleasure has been taken away from her. She will not shed tears for Caylee because in her mind she has justified murdering her child and she received sort of pleasure in doing it. Shortly before the announcement Casey Anthony was taken into the custody of the Orange County Sheriffs department. While in route from her attorney’s office with her mother, Anthony stopped the vehicle under a bridge near Boggy Creek road in south Orange County near a sheriff’s department vehicle.

4:05 p.m.: State Attorney Lawson Lamar did not speak with the media after the presentation of the true bill to Judge Belvin Perry. Because the defendant who was indicted is not in custody, the judge sealed the indictment. Lamar said it was a captial crime — one punishable by death. We won’t know more for a bit, perhaps as is expected, Casey Anthony is taken into custody. She is at her parents’ house.
The judge did agree at this time that the defendant will be heald on no bond.

4:55 p.m. It is a 7-count indictment against Casey Anthony, State Attorney Lawson Lamar just said.
Count one is first-degree murder.
Count two is for causing great bodily harm to Caylee, by intentionally inflicting injury on her or causing the injury to happen.
Count three is aggravated manslaughter, that as Caylee’s caregiver, Casey failed to give her what was needed for her physical or mental health or to protect her from abuse that caused her death.
Counts four to seven involve lying to law enforcement during her discussions with investigators.
“The defendant is cloaked with the persumption of innocence,” Lamar said as he said he would not further comment on process. He said she should not be tried at news conferences or in the media.
Beary said they are not hear to rejoice in the indictment. He said they will continue to everything they can to recover Caylee.
