Open Thread for The Nancy Grace Show 9-25

Update on LindaOz

I communicated with LindaOz briefly today through email. She says she will be okay, but had what sounds to be a pretty serious head injury. She wanted me to pass on her thanks for everyones concern and that she would be back when she is able.

Everyone say a little prayer for Ms. LindaOz

For those of you watching the Nancy Grace show while at your computer. Here’s your thread to discuss the show while it’s on and others can follow. I will post video, and transcripts when available.

Note: Some of the regulars here on the site are named Nancy. Inevitably, during our Nancy Grace open threads, someone wanders onto this site and starts chatting up one of our regulars thinking they are talking with Nancy Grace.

We’re quite certain Nancy Grace follows our blog, but during the show she simply doesn’t have time to blog live with us.

Transcript:

The Fireball Run

…businessman Reynaldo Rodriguez never imagined turning his $120,000 Lamborghini Countach into a moving billboard.

But this week, the exotic sports car will become just that, bearing posters of missing 3-year-old Caylee Anthony’s face.

“We had someone compare us to an expensive milk carton on wheels,” Rodrguez said. “If that’s what it takes, so be it.”

Today, Rodriguez and business partner Jose Fernandez will join more than 60 racing teams from around the country in the second annual Fireball Run Transcontinental Rally. The event is a nine-day, cross-country rally from Louisiana to Michigan that benefits the Child Rescue Network, a national organization that helps locate missing kids.

Each team will sport a missing child’s picture and distribute hundreds of fliers along the 3,500-mile route. Each day, the teams will stop in a different city, where they will hold news conferences and other media events designed to heighten awareness about missing children.

Teams pay $7,000 to participate and spend more than three times that amount on gas, insurance, lodging, meals and entertainment. In addition to Rodrguez’s Lamborghini, participants will drive Porsches, Jaguars and Ferraris as well as a handful of cars that have been featured in movies such as Back to the Future II and television shows such as Knight Rider.

They’ll also compete against each other in interactive games that include solving riddles and piecing together clues, in the style of CBS’s Amazing Race.

“This is an opportunity to do something that is fun and has a purpose,” said Fernndez, who along with Rodrguez and Bill Archer owns Orlando-based Wicked Wines and Spirits, a wine importer and distributor.

Fernndez, one of the founders of the Hispanic Business Initiative Fund and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando, has a long history of community involvement. The rally, he says, is extra special.

“This event is something close to our hearts because as parents, we all have been in that situation when you lose your child for two minutes and you start going crazy,” Fernndez said. “Can you imagine what that would be like if it was two weeks or two months or two years?”

The rally is the brainchild of Orlando advertising executive J Sanchez. He put a $6 million price tag on the media coverage the rally attracted last year, when it spun from Orlando to Los Angeles.

“It was incredibly effective for our cause,” Sanchez said. “The phones were ringing off the hook [at the Child Rescue Network] by the time we reached Tallahassee.”

Twenty-one kids have been located of the 65 featured in last year’s rally.

This year, Rodrguez and Fernndez will be armed with technology and wit to outdo the other contest participants. They’ll bring along a laptop with satellite connection as well as cell phones and Blackberrys. The car is equipped with a GPS system. They’ve also assembled a network of more than 100 people — from NASA engineers to homemakers — to help them solve the riddles and figure out clues. The teams earn points for each challenge they win.

The pair expects the competition to be fierce. (source)

Said Rodriguez: “When you get this many A-plus personalities together, you’re bound to have an explosion.”

Lawsuit filed by Zenaida Gonzalez

Attorney John Morgan, who is representing Zenaida Gonzalez in this civil suit, was just on CNN Headline News. He brought up an interesting turn of events created by this lawsuit. They now have deposition power and subpoena power for the Anthony’s and all of those friends involved in the case. So we may soon be finding out more from this civil suit, than from the criminal case which is shelved somewhere while they try to get their ducks in a row. This just might be what they need to get their ducks in a row.

I think this is him. You can click here to get his information.

An outdoor “babysitting service” set up near missing Caylee Anthony’s home mocked protesters who continue to bring their young children, even infants, to heckle the family.

Homeowners have accused protesters of bad parenting for bringing infants and young children to the Anthony’s Orange County home — even late at night. The home has become a tourist attraction for some visitors to Orlando and at least one group planned a trip to see the home after Casey Anthony was released from jail for the third time.Recently, children were videotaped holding death signs in their parent’s arms outside the Anthony home. The protesters did not like the “babysitting service” and mocked the man setting it up, Local 6 reported.
