ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A few hours after a physical showdown between protesters and the Anthony family, George Anthony is demanding justice. Overnight, one of the protesters grabbed George Anthony by the shirt and his wife Cindy, who was armed with a baseball bat, stepped in and broke it up.
George told Eyewitness News he knows who the people are and he wants them prosecuted. He spoke at length Thursday morning about Wednesday night’s confrontation. If the requested injunction wasn’t denied by a judge to keep protesters away from this area, what happened overnight may not have happened. The activity was out of control and it’s surprising no one got hurt.
George Anthony spent Thursday morning hammering in wooden steaks and putting tape up again in his front yard.
“Did your surveillance video get any of this action on tape last night?” WFTV reporter Mark Boyle asked George Anthony on Thursday morning.
“Absolutely, we know who the people are,” George said. “They threw pebbles, pennies at my house. I have chips in my widows, damaged grass and a dent in my garage door.”
That dent was caused by one of the protesters banging on the garage door. Armed with a bat, George and Cindy confronted the crowd. One woman grabbed George’s’ shirt and tried dragging him down the driveway. George ended up using a garden hose to keep the protesters away.
Deputies finally showed up after Casey called 911.
“I feel sorry for my neighbors that I’ve known for the last 19 years. It’s ashamed what’s happened to my neighborhood because of this,” George told Eyewitness News.
Thursday morning, Casey’s attorney, Jose Baez, drove to Casey’s home to pick her up. Neither of them said anything.
Even though George and Cindy aren’t suspects in the case of missing Caylee Anthony, protesters have no plans of backing down.
”Just to protest, to see if we could break them down,” protester Miriah Bounds told Eyewitness News on Wednesday night.
“It does tear you apart,” George said Thursday morning.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said they do have routine patrol in the area, but because of what happened overnight they may review things and consider more deputies monitor the neighborhood.

Tonight he came to my house, tied me up, and made me wait in a van in um, blanchard park, yeah that’s the ticket. He left me tied up at Blanchard park then he came over here and PRETENDED to be me and assaulted George Anthony and then he came back to the park and picked me up and dumped me in George’s front yard and SAID it was me. But it absolutely was not me.
And you can absolutely believe that because he called his two friends Michael Chertoff and William Hurt and told them all about it!
I hope the HOA for the neighborhood prevails with the injunction to limit the protests to a specified time and place. And I’m glad George is pressing charges.

However I do have a big problem with a former law enf officer hiding a criminal in his house and covering up for her in the disappearance of an innocent child – making a mockery of LE on the one hand, and now using them to protect him on the other? George is getting his blood pressure up. He looks red in the face in that picture. If they have security cameras then why don’t they just be still and let LE handle it? These protestors are coming around now just to provoke the Anthony’s and the Anthony’s feed into it. And they love the spotlight, too. Might as well get rid of NeJames and the spokesman and the bodyguards. They haven’t let anyone do their job from day one.

Don’t you protect someone because you love them and care…I think we’ve seen that of Cindy towards Casey from what’s come out already…she’s replaced stolen money for her, never pressed charges when Casey used Cindy’s charge cards…and sought out counceling to deal with what was occuring at home…

I’ve been without power since Sunday when Ike decided to visit southern Indiana, trying to get caught up. Many times protesters end up causing more problems than they came to try to correct. We have watched families there with children, protesting because someone didn’t take care of their child, while all the while they are putting their own childen in danger. I saw the clip of the little boy getting his arm caught in the car door. Mom couldn’t even stop fighting long enough to take care of him. Plus, where does a child that age learn to tell people they hope they die? It sure doesn’t show that the protesting mother has used any parenting skills.

I hope, I hope, the protester will tell the police that Zaneida wrote a script and made him do it! George wants justice?! Justice for a dent in his garage door but not justice for Caylee? No matter how bad I feel for the Anthony’s…….they brought this on themselves ( not that I agree with the prostesters ). I agree some people have no class or taste. But, apparently Cindy and George don’t really mind. They bail her out, not matter what she gets into and then makes excuses for her crazy behavior. If we are talking protecting our family here……wouldn’t jail be the safest place for Casey and them until Caylee is found alive and brought back to her family…….(who loves her so dearly???)……and Casey can receive her “Mother of the Year” award. I want to HEAR the 911 tape… her voice was so monotone and unemotional in the interrogation tapes. I want to know if there was any fear or anxiety in her voice when it was her own life… there certainly wasn’t when she was recounting what happened to her daughter.

Cindy and George are entitled to hang on to a thread of hope that Caylee is still alive. The evidence that has been spoken of in the media does not conclusively prove that Caylee Anthony’s dead body was in the trunk of that car. They have hair evidence that is consistent with hair that comes from a decomposing body because of the dark banding pattern, but a forensic expert said things other than decomposition could cause a dark banding pattern. The DNA (last I knew) indicated that the hair could have been Casey’s or Caylee’s, which means they had mitochondrial DNA from the hair shaft; this is the DNA that comes from the mother, which is why it could have come from either Casey or Caylee. You need a hair bulb/root for nuclear DNA which shows the DNA from both mother and father. Only nuclear DNA would prove the trunk hair was from Caylee and OSCO has not said officially that they have nuclear DNA for that hair sample.
The vaporized chloroform in the air of the trunk combined with the internet searches is highly suggestive of foul play, but nothing has been said about when the searches took place. We don’t know what computer was used for them. Two computers were taken from the Anthony home: an HP tower from a desktop system and the Compac labtop that was found in the trunk of the abandoned car. I’m sure OSCO requested work schedules for both Cindy and George to see if either of them could have been home or had access to the computer at the time the internet searches were conducted. It hasn’t been proven (that we know) that Casey conducted those searches.
We don’t know enough about the amount of chloroform found in the trunk or the quality of it to know (if it can even be determined) what the original source of the chloroform was (an accidental creation by combining chemicals in the trunk or a pure, pharmaceutical grade form of chloroform). Moreover, we don’t know if or how or when Casey got her hands on chloroform. As far as we know, there is no record that Casey ordered any from internet sources. I’m sure LE is trying to determine what sort of recreational drugs Casey used and where she may have gotten them to see if her supplier could also have provided chloroform. Chloroform is used in science classes in public schools across America (remember the frog scene from ET the Extraterrestrial?) for live dissections, so it could be stolen fairly easily by anyone with access to a supply room in a high school or college and thereafter sold on the street. But no one has been able to prove that Casey ever had chloroform.
I do believe Cindy and George desperately love Caylee and can’t yet face the idea that she is dead much less dead at the hand of their own daughter. When the DNA evidence was leaked to the press, Cindy said she went to OSCO and asked if they could tell her with 100% certainty that the evidence proved that Caylee could not be alive, and she was told that the evidence could not say that with 100% certainty. So let them hang on to a thread of hope and make their televised appeals in Puerto Rico and Mexico.
As for why they are circling the wagons around Casey, I would say that the primary reason is that they cannot at this point accept the idea that Caylee is dead. Beyond that, even if they can accept that there is circumstantial evidence to suggest that Caylee could be dead, they don’t know any more than we do whether the death was accidental or premeditated. Even Casey’s friends said they couldn’t imagine she would even deliberately harm Caylee but that if Caylee died accidentally, Casey could have freaked out and tried to cover it up. It would certainly make a difference to me whether Caylee was killed accidentally or deliberately.
Clearly LE is desperately trying to find the evidence they need to determine whether they can make a case for first degree murder or need to fall back to a lesser charge like manslaughter. They aren’t going to charge Casey with premeditated murder and lose on the evidence because they can’t prove premeditation beyond a reasonable doubt, but they don’t want to prematurely charge her with manslaughter and later find stronger evidence that Caylee’s death was purposeful.
Cindy, George, and Lee are not going to make public statements against Casey at this point given the consequences of doing so relative to the charges that are going to be filed against Casey. Hate Casey all you want, but in the eyes of the law, she is still innocent until proven guilty and she is still entitled to a trial based on all the evidence. Baez has certainly told Casey’s family not to question her and not to say anything that would compromise her upcoming trial.
And Cindy and George were turning over evidence left and right to LE. It was Cindy who called LE in the first place to have Casey arrested for money and car theft. One of the defence attorneys on Greta said it appeared to him the Cindy was dragging Casey into the jail so that LE would force Casey to reveal Caylee’s whereabouts. At that point, Cindy had been asking to see and speak to Caylee for a month but Casey kept putting her off. Even when Cindy tracked her down on July 15, Casey wouldn’t take Cindy to Caylee, so having Casey arrested was the one way Cindy could force Casey to reveal Caylee’s location. That was tough love, and we see how well that worked out. Casey still hasn’t come clean with what happened.
I also think people have unreasonable expectations about what Cindy and George could possibly do to force Casey to say exactly what happened. Baez is instructing Casey not to say anthing to anyone. Jailing Casey won’t work because Baez won’t let LE speak to her openly—he is insisting that they ask him their questions and he will ask Casey and get back to them. So putting her in jail again won’t make her crack either.
And ultimately, unless LE can present evidence to Cindy and George that there is no possibility that Caylee is alive at this point, they will hope for a miracle. Emotionally and psychologically, they have no incentive to learn that Caylee is dead. And Casey has no incentive at all to reveal the whereabouts of Caylee’s body. As it is, and from what we know, LE doesn’t know exactly what happened. That is to Casey’s benefit, and she isn’t going to provide clarification when doing so will only make the case against her stronger.
Seriously, she killed her young daughter and then lived as if nothing had happened. Does anyone really believe she’s concerned about giving Caylee a respectful burial or does anyone really believe she’s going to tell the truth if it means losing the support of the few people who still desperately want to believe Caylee is alive?
Here is my question if he did in fact say it this Morn..Why was Cindy talking on Puerto Rico television about Caylee and this case????
I in no way am defending the protesters, imo, they should go home. But, hearing casey say that someone else needs to be arrested made me cringe.
George and Cindy are so childish. No wonder Casey is such a mess of a human being. Poor George looked ridiculous spraying those kids with the hose. I can not imagine my husband and I ever acting like them in this situation. If they would quit confronting these protesters and just stay inside and call the police and let the police handle the protesters I think a lot of these problems would go away. The police would finally do something about the protesters because they would get tired of being called out to the Anthony house every hour, and the protesters would quit coming if the Anthony’s would just stay inside. and not confront the protesters. George and Cindy are doing everything the protesters want them to do.
Does anyone else remember in the very beginning how Cindy said she wasn’t able to get a hold of George until late that night (when she found out Caylee was missing)?
At the start Cindy’s attitude was *I want her arrested*, etc, but then her atttitude changed and they all started sticking to the same story. It makes me wonder if Cindy’s not covering up for another family member that might have helped Casey dispose of the body.

Last night a reporter from Fox35 said she spoke with a spokesperson with Equusearch who said she is in constant contact with the OC Sheriffs and that big developments are to come in this case that will surprise all. hmmm Nothing like tossing out some bait. Knowing how the media scrambles around for ratings it is probably just a tease with no substance.

I really can’t help but think that we are just getting bits and pieces of information…like when the air samples came out…it wasn’t anything confirming it was Caylee, just confirming that it was human decomp…hair samples…not a match to Caylee…it was either her or Casey…obviously that it had signs of post morterm…which would rule it out as Caseys, but that wasn’t wnough for them to say it was Caylee’s…and the Chloroform…it was there…but full info such as what computer searchers there were, and when…small pieces of the puzzle…but not enough to put it together…
And that of course is LE right to give us whatever info, or not give that they want too…
Then there is Lenored Padilla…I’m sure all of what he’s “spilling”…piece by piece…a little each day, is just sensationalism….Didn’t he know all this weeks ago…like he suddenly remembered all these breaking news details, one at a time?…why didn’t LE talk to him and Rob Dick before they left town….why fly to California to talk to him? No, I don’t work in the legal profession in any capacity. I’m a market researcher, so I sift through lots of data and try to interpret it.
I really prefer Greta to NG because Greta lets her guests speak and explain various positions whereas NG cuts them off if they don’t agree with her. Greta’s legal guests (when she covers this type of story) really give good insight into the legal complexities involved. NG tries to sensationalize every bit of information that comes out, and hers is very one-sided coverage of the story. I don’t mean that she should shut off her brain. Greta is upfront that she is very suspicious of Casey, but she nevertheless allows her guest experts to really discuss the evidence and the strength of the case against Casey. I learn a lot more from Greta than I do from NG.
I’m thoroughly hooked on this story, so I am following it closely and trying guess what LE might do next along with everyone else. It’s a frustrating case, but I get impatient myself by reading comments from people demanding to know why Casey hasn’t been arrested yet for murder. LE has to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, whatever they ultimately charge her with. So I’ve tried to pay attention to what the experts have said relative to what can and cannot be determined from the evidence that we know about.
Casey is a practiced liar, but she isn’t very smart given the easily-disproved story she told. The smartest thing she did relative to LE’s investigation was to give everyone the runaround for as long as possible, and I don’t think that was the decision of an evil mastermind but just of a self-absorbed woman trying to put off the inevitable for as long as possible.
Should we call for the ‘waterboard’ about now?
A little “coaxing” should open her wide up.
I prefer Greta, also, for the same reasons. I really don’t understand why Nancy Grace starts her show every night with BREAKING NEWS and then goes on to say missing 3 year old….. the story isn’t new in and of itself. And one night, she was reporting something that had been confirmed by the police to be a lie, I can’t think what it was at the moment. She is very dramatic. But she’s the one reporting.LOL
I understand everyone wants her charged with murder…..but, does that necessarily mean she will be put to death??? I was thinking that either way manslaughter, negligent homicide…..etc. would bring many many years for her behind bars. As “easy” and “loose” as Casey seems to be wouldn’t many many years away from the party scene be as bad or worse on her as death? But, she was a little touchy with alot of ladies in the pics of her partying…..maybe she’ll actually like it there?

The following are death penalty crimes in Florida:
First-degree murder
Felony murder
Capital drug trafficking
Capital sexual battery
Manslaughter, according to one of NG’s defense lawyers, is about 15 years.
The higher the crime (first-degree murder rather than manslaughter), the higher the proof needed to try the case. Maybe the evidence LE has against Casey at the moment would only support a manslaughter conviction and that is why they aren’t in a rush to charge her. There is no statute of limitations for murder, so they don’t have to rush.
They’ll charge her when they are certain that they have gathered every bit of evidence they are ever likely to find against her, and then they’ll determine what type of conviction the evidence will support.
2shado – that was me! I swear, listening to her change her story midsentence in that tape they released most recently of her interrogation – the part about Juliet Lewis. First she is her coworker in teh same dept at Universal and her confidante, and then she can’t give a phone # because it changed – when she moved – 2 or 3 months ago – to New York City. Um, yeah. THAT’s the ticket
Tash – I thought that was very interesting also how Caylee’s mom totally blew off the operator asking her to identify herself, which she NEVER did.
I bet Baez was looking unhappy because he’s pissed at Caylee’s mom for injecting herself into the middle of this mess by calling 911 and shooting her mouth off and also lying during the call and refusing to ID herself. Just doesn’t look good for a bonded-out alleged criminal.
Re: Cindy and George – I put some of the details in here last night about the timeline being all screwed up for the day they got the car & “found” Caylee’s mom. Much confusion there. Cindy says she got the letter, called George, and they went to get the car. Yet the tow yard people say that George came ALONE in the morning, then again several hours later with Cindy when they took the car home.
Then back at home, there is confusion about when Cindy got in touch with George and how that all went down. During that last 911 call it does sound like she’s breaking the news to George for the first time that Caylee is actually MISSING, not just being drug from pillar to post by her flakey mother who was probably living out of her car. Cindy thought Caylee was just being kept away from her. I think she did suspect something awful going on but never imagined what it would turn out to be.
Maura – I listed out the aggravating factors needed to be proved in a case to “qualify” for the DP. I think LE may be gathering the best case they can, and I agree they may even wait YEARS to bring murder charges, in order to be able to make out a DP case rather than a manslaughter case. A 15 year sentence for a first time felon would probably end up 3 yrs to serve or something.

Maybe that’s why they (LE) has staggered the other charges against her so by the time they decide to charge her with anything…………….she’ll NO LONGER be a first time felon.

I was thinking the same thing…when she goes to court for her Daughter…she’ll be a convicted criminal….with a past record…doesn’t look as good as someone without a record….
MauraL….LE are doing I think a good job..They need all the proof they can get…If the want the death penalty in this case..As far as LE in Calif..I really think something other than seeing Leonard and Rob Dick is why they are in Calif. They do need to find Caylee dead or alive..

I used to always pray that people got MERCY instead of justice but in Casey Anthony’s case I hope she gets the longest , harshest sentence she can be given. If I were ever going to believe in the death penalty it would be for Casey Anthony.

Someone posted on one of these list that they think George has been an accomplice from the start not to the murder but to the cover up. I have to agree. I also agree with Kat, George is a former Law Enforcement officer and he should know better. He loves his daughter but he has a bigger duty to his grand daughter to get her a proper burial and to see that her killer is punished. I am amazed everyday by the love and compassion I find in these post for a little girl who has been now missing 90+ days and her family seems to be perfectly fine with it, if the protesters would go away and the TV and book offers would keep coming in, I think they would be able to let this go on for ever.
It is very apparent that Caylee is not their primary concern any longer.
I am praying for justice for Caylee and a proper burial. I also hope this is the weekend the police say they have had enough and they take Casey away for ever.
It would be even better if the Anthony’s came forward and said they had gotten the whole truth, the whole story out of Casey and they could lead the police to the body.
Maybe this will be the weekend ?????

they love caylee we did not know them before how do we know how they were with her we do not do not judge them no parent is perfect.
don’t count on her confessing it does not benefit her even if she did confess it would be a lie she’ll cry and say it was an accident. like she cried to her brother that caylee was kodnapped by the nanny btw zanni is a little blue pill and she also told a cop who stopped her for a traffic violation that her name was zenaida so go figure.
