Casey Anthony Faces Judge On New Charges

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) — Casey Anthony, mother of missing 3-year-old Caylee Anthony, appeared in front of an Initial Appearance Judge Tuesday morning on three new charges unrelated to the disappearance of her missing daughter.

The appearance occurred shortly after 9 a.m. and lasted about a minute.

Monday afternoon, her attorney escorted her to the Booking and Release Center to be jailed for the third time.

Casey was charged with uttering a forged check, fraudulent use of personal identification and petit theft.

The charges were filed by Casey’s friend, Amy Huizenga, who told police that Casey borrowed her car while she was in Puerto Rico and cleared out her bank account by using checks she accidentally left in the car.

Police obtained surveillance video that captures Casey using Huizenga’s checks at Target and Bank of America. Huizenga alleges that Casey stole approximately $700 from her bank account.

According to the jail, the Court Administrative Order required she be held in custody until her appearance which happened shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

During her court appearance, a judge reviewed the probable cause of the charges and determined the bond amounts and any new conditions that may apply to the new charges. The bond amounts for the new charges total $1,250, and Casey could be re-released if her bond is authorized and posted. She will still be required to have Home Confinement Electronic Monitoring.

According to the jail, the earliest Casey could be released from jail would be late Tuesday afternoon due to paperwork processing.

Casey is currently behind held in Protective Custody Level One which prevents her from making contact with other inmates. She is being held in the women’s detention center in a cell by herself.

Casey’s attorney, Jose Baez, says he plans to have her out of jail in the next 24 hours.

so will she post bond again? im guessing yes but who is coming up with all this money? and why are they giving it to her? they should be using it to help find her missing daughter. maybe give it to charity?

  2. mia says:

As much as I’ve been following this case, I think I’m gonna have to stop. It’s just getting totally sickening and all the money spent on all the media coverage, cops, security, etc, etc, etc, would be enough to hellp some people in this country who REALLY need it. Enough is enough already.

Ctygrl.. other than the big bond posting, the other amounts have only been a couple hundred dollars.

  3. TallyGirl says:

i’m with you mia – makes me sick – and i’m following it – just adds to the insanity.

  4. OKD says:

I say put her in general population with the rest of the prisoners. Why does she get protective custody?

I say she will confess after a few days in gen. pop and beg for protective custody, this is what they can dangle over her like a carrot?

Does anyone know at what point this becomes a cold case?

  5. Indy Deb says:

They won’t put her in general population. The reason is supposed to be for her protection, but most likely, the reason is more to the side of protecting the Sheriffs Dept. from being liable for any harm that would come to her. I say they take her in the back and tazer the answer out of her. We all know that they can’t do that though, unfortunately! This is a long way from a cold case. A very long way.

  6. Jan says:

I was reading other comments on the Investigation Discovery website…..someone posted this link……. I’m sure the police have it, but does anyone happen to know who this guy is with that she is in this pic with???

    http://www.myspace.com/387085778

  7. Jan says:

Also, notice the “name” 6.17.08…….. this date just might have some significance….. this is the date that they kept the phone pings secretive at first. But, was logged in on up until 7/12/08.

  8. Laura says:

jan i have no clue who that is but do we know when that pic was taken?

  9. Laura says:

maye thats another boyfriend who knows,so that was taken this past june right

  10. Laura says:

her hair looks pretty short in that pic i dont think it was recent

  11. ohio says:

What makes you think it was her? I don’t think it was her, am I wrong?

  12. Maria says:

It definitely looks like her in the picture and I could be mistaken, but the guy looks like her boyfriend Tony with darker colored hair.

  13. Laura says:

i dont know ohio im iffy on that one there are obivously some crazy people out there it might not be her

  14. Hope says:

I want to know more about this guy that is her friend who is in the military that she talked to the night her car was left at the amscot. does anyone know anything about him?

  15. Laura says:

i dont know anything about him but doesnt he live in californa

  16. Jan says:

Just sharing……………. but, it sure looks like her to me. Her hair has grown quite a lot since the first mug shot. And, if it was made a month of so earlier, I’m sure her hair could have been that short. The one posted of her walking holding Caylee’s hand that is talking about how she’s punishing everyone with her silence. Her hair looks really really short in that one. But, I’m sure it could be a made up post from some crazed whacko.

  17. Laura says:

i know i mean she ia a skank so it could possibilty be her

  18. Dan says:

On Casey’s present MySpace she is listed in Orlando. On the one listed in Jan’s comment she is listed as being in Philadelphia. Did Casey live there four years ago?…this is just a profile view, can’t see all her features…could be one of many young, short haired, brunettes. I think this is someone playing a joke.

  19. Dan says:

sorry, got ahead of myself. Meant, Pennsylvania.

  20. Jan says:

I’m sure if it’s one of her myspace accounts the LE already knows that by now……. I just saw the link posted on another blog and felt it might be interesting to some. And, the date was interesting…..being that it had not be logged onto since before her arrest and this became national news. Who would have known the importance of the date 6.17.08 at that point in time??

  21. Arleen says:

Casey acts like this is a game ….
    You can’t get me !!!
    You can’t keep me !!!
Sometimes the look on her face seems like it is almost enjoyable.
    She should be ashamed….

  22. j says:

    I don’t think that’s Casey either.

  23. Arleen says:

Mia … I feel that way too.
I am so interested in finding Caylee but the rest is such trash I would really never have gotten involved had it not been for her big sad eyes . She deserves better. Every time I think of leaving I think where is she what has happened to her and I stay a little longer.

  24. NANinSantaFe says:

Um – wondering how her attorney thinks he can get her out on bail for “this one” when she has been charged for 1st degree murder – no bond on those charges.

  25. NANinSantaFe says:

Guess I am confused. There are SO many charges against her, I cannot keep everything straight. Perhaps I am confused. Any help/comments out there?

  26. Dianne - California says:

Yeah…the date of this article is September 16th. I think that is why. Or, maybe I am just confused. But, she is on the no bond Murder I indictment still. I was confused until I read the date of this article.
