Caylee Anthony Day by Day Since the Begining of The End

Casey Anthony Could be Released Tuesday

ORLANDO, Fla. — With well-known celebrity bounty hunter Leonard Padilla in Orlando working out details to bail Casey Anthony out of jail, sources tell Channel 9 it could be at least tomorrow before she is released. If Casey is released, an associate of Padilla will live with her 24 hours a day, seven days a week, trying to get more information about missing Caylee Anthony. She’s [going to] have to trust somebody or she’s [going to] be sitting in jail for a long time, said Padilla.” He thinks Casey will trust him because of his experience in dealing with similar situations over the past 33 years.

He says his nephew, Tony Padilla, the bail bondsman from California, is working through a Tampa-based bail bondsman to finalize the deal to post Casey Anthony’s $500,000 bond. And he says he will pay the 50-thousand dollar fee to the Tampa bail bondsman out of the goodness of his heart.

“I don’t think the baby’s dead. I think the baby’s alive and I think we can find her,” added Padilla. (channel 9 News Orlando)

Casey Anthony not likely to get out of jail today

A bail bondsman says the mother of a missing Florida girl will likely be spending another night in jail.

Tony Padilla said Casey Anthony would “probably not” be released from the Orange County jail on Monday because of concerns about proposed home confinement conditions.

Padilla and his uncle flew on Sunday from California to Florida to try and post Anthony’s bond.

Post from Comments Tim in Colorado II

Another comment from Tim in Colorado I felt was worthy of it’s own thread.

About these items found in the woods: there’s a slight potential for confusion about the sizes involved here, because “size 5″ could conceivably be either a women’s dress/pant size or a children’s clothing size. However, I looked back at the list of items taken from Casey’s closet, and of the items mentioned as being size 5 on the search warrant list were the top three:
* “Zinc” size 5 pants;
* “Coolwear” size 5 skirt; and
* “Mossamo” [sic; probably "Mossimo"] size 5 shirt.

I did a little homework on the manufacturers of these items of clothing, and Zinc is definitely a young women’s clothier. As I recall, at issue for investigators were the pants that Cindy Anthony commented upon that “smelled like the car,” which she said she had washed after finding them there. It would make perfect sense if this pair of slacks, being the first on the list, was the clothing item in which investigators were most interested. Here’s a link to an image of a model in slacks from Zinc’s Fall/Winter ‘07 collection: http://www.originalzinc.com/new-zinc-06/ads/F07/tv-mall-2.jpg

Finding the size 5 Coolwear skirt was more of a chore than I thought it might be, because I didn’t find a manufacturer Web site for Coolwear. I found Coolwear women’s jeans on places like eBay and Amazon, and I can only assume that this must have been a women’s size 5 jean skirt. The size 5 Mossimo shirt would presumably also belong to Casey, not Caylee. (Mossimo is a brand sold by Target stores, and on their Web site, girls’ shirts appear only to be sized in XS through XL — no quasi-age designations.)

If any of the items found by bloggers near the Econ Soccer Complex on Yates Road had anything to do with the case, it would be the size 5 Express jeans — which again would not be linked directly to Caylee, but to Casey, if at all. (Express definitely designs women’s jeans only; see link, http://www.express.com/catalog/category.jsp?parentCategoryId=2&categoryId=24).

On their Web site, Local6 News (CBS affiliate, presumably) has a caption under a photo of the items discovered in the woods in Blanchard Park (so the report states), which says that among items found were “a yellow sandal, a size-five pair of pants and a small tank top.” The “size five” does mesh with this blog report, although the caption does not specify what kind of pant was found, as does this blog. Because Local6’s photos were featured as a Flash slideshow on their site, I could not easily isolate two specific images I wanted to link to here, but you’ll find the slideshow at: http://www.local6.com/slideshow/news/17213476/detail.html.

I found the picture of the small, black women’s tank top intriguing because it appears to have a dark area on it covering most of its front that might indicate that it either was wet or had been earlier. Lighter (perhaps, dryer?) areas can also be seen near the top of it, and it was piped with white piping. Evidently, Orange County investigators swooped in pretty quickly to seize the items the bloggers found, but at least there are photos and video that Local6 was able to preserve for the public’s information.

Post from comments Tim in Colorado

Tim in Colorado posted this in the comments section, I thought it worthy of a thread of it’s own.

When Clint House, the housemate of Casey’s most recent boyfriend, Tony Lazarro, (Casey’s housemate also, evidently, for about a week and a half or two in mid-June) was interviewed by Greta Van Susteren of Fox News, he said that he never heard the name Zenaida Gonzalez, though he did hear of a “nanny” from Casey. According to the arrest report, Tony Lazarro apparently said the same thing when initially interviewed by police.

From what I can tell, besides Casey’s parents, these two guys may have been the closest to the situation and in the best position to know if there had been a Zenaida Gonzalez involved in watching Caylee. But the impression I get from them is that George and Cindy Anthony watched Caylee for Casey more than anyone else.

One thing that hasn’t been that well documented but probably should be is not just Casey’s employment record, but her father, George’s. During the bond hearing Cindy Anthony testified that George was employed recently by a security company and was just starting a new job. We’ve also heard George say to the media that he left for work on Monday, June 16 around 1:00 p.m. and saw Casey and Caylee before he left. He is ostensibly the last person besides Casey to have seen Caylee before she disappeared that day.

Here are the questions that occur to me about this: (1) Do we have documentation that George was employed during the period of Casey’s and Caylee’s absence, from June 16 to July 15? (2) Didn’t George actually know that Casey was not regularly employed at that time, since he knew that she wasn’t leaving the house until much later in the day than one would expect for most employment situations? (3) If Casey had been staying overnight with Tony at his house since early June (best we can pinpoint may be about June 9), why was she staying the night at her parents’ the day Caylee most likely disappeared? (4) If Casey wasn’t regularly employed at the time, what was the need for a babysitter, besides in the evenings when she was clubbing — when her parents (at least Cindy) would be home from work anyway? Had they refused to watch Caylee in the evenings at some point? (5) While we’re at it, do we know what Tony’s and Clint’s work schedules were like at the time? If they were involved at Club Fusian in the evenings, might they not have been at least available to watch Caylee for quite a bit of the day?

What about Casey’s other friends? According to media reports one of the “flurry” calls that Casey made on June 16 — evidently the last one, by the way — was to Amy Huizenga. If I were the police, I would be pressing Amy hard for information, and here’s why:
* At the time the arrest report was filed on July 16, Amy Huizenga lived with another former boyfriend of Casey, Roberto Morales, just a block or two away from the Sawgrass Apartments where Casey pointed out the supposed residence of Zenaida Gonzalez.
* According to the arrest report, Amy Huizenga took a plane trip somewhere for a week, during which time she loaned Casey her car. The report does not say precisely when this was, but it would be a logical conclusion that the reason for this was that Amy knew Casey’s car had been abandoned and/or towed. Having this knowledge would put Amy in a position of potentially knowing more about the suspicious activities surrounding the car (the stolen gas cans, the smell and the dirt, stain and hair in the trunk).
* According to Cindy Anthony, it was Amy who helped her get back in touch with Casey again and recover the impounded Pontiac. As I recall, though, Cindy and George also told the media that they received a letter in the mail telling them the car was impounded; but it wasn’t clear to me how these two bits of information fit together in the timeline.
* Could it be that Casey is actually pointing surreptitiously at Amy, as to who the “nanny” actually is? With Casey’s story about a kidnapping, and with Cindy reporting supposed sightings of Caylee in the Atlanta airport shortly after the news broke of Caylee’s disappearance in mid-July, wouldn’t it be possible that these fabrications could have been inspired by an actual sitter who could have taken the child somewhere, even if that never actually happened?

Without further investigation, I acknowledge that these ideas are admittedly speculation, but I do believe that most fabrications are based on some tidbit of truth. In one of her early visit exchanges, Casey protests that she even though she wasn’t telling them the whole story, she was giving police valuable clues about her daughter’s whereabouts. Could there be some tea leaves to read here?

Bounty Hunter Arrives

ORLANDO – After nearly one month behind bars, the mother of missing 3-year-old Caylee Anthony could soon be a free woman. A bounty hunter is in Central Florida to try and post bond for Casey Anthony. Leonard Padilla arrived at Orlando International Airport Sunday night. He’s here to post the bond for Anthony, who has been locked up since July 16. Anthony was charged with child neglect and for lying to authorities. Padilla, who hosts a show called Bounty Hunters on the National Geographic Channel, said he hopes Casey might be able to help in the search for the toddler onse she is released.

“I just got a feel that there’s some humanity in that woman that would not allow her to kill that cute little girl. I just have to believe that, in spite of all the horrible things they’re saying about her,” said Padilla.

Padilla said there is a 50-50 chance he can get Anthony out of jail Monday. Padilla and his nephew, a bail bondsman, will try to schedule a meeting with Casey’s lawyer, Jose Baez. (Sunday, August 17, 2008 8:05:34 PM Channel 13 News Orlando)
